The Scottish Football League Cup, presently known as the Betfred Cup for the business reason because of sponsorship, is a football competition open to all Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) clubs. There is one change in broadcasting rights. This year all Betfred cup football league will live telecast on BT Sport who replaced BBC Scotland from the 2016–17 session.
If we look back at this tournament, the Scottish League Cup has oscillated between being a straightforward single-elimination knockout tournament and having an initial group phase. This season, the League Cup will change back to the group stage format. The eight group winners and four best runners-up will jump into the second round, where they are combined by the four clubs participating in Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) competitions. The tournament then approves a single-elimination knockout phase. There are no replays, so all matches end up in a draw after 90 minutes are decided by additional time and, if necessary, penalty kicks will take place. The semi-final matches will be played in a neutral stadium, resolute by the area and numbers of supporter involved and the most exciting part is final match. This match is usually played at Hampden Park in Glasgow. In case if any occurrence happens then the final match will be played at another venue which will be informed by tournament authority board.
